There are several elevator components that commonly need an upgrade in a modernization project including elevator pump units, hydraulic jacks and control valves.
A traction elevator modernization commonly involves replacement of the geared winding drum machine and replacement with a new geared or gearless traction machines are installed. The geared winding drum machine is an outdated design and rarely warrants retention.
